The Governor of Goa, Mr. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai along with the First Lady Mrs. Reetha Sreedharan visited the Mahabodhi Temple in the evening on Wednesday the 24th April, 2024. Dr. SM Tiyagrajan, IAS, District Magistrate, Gaya-cum-Chairman, BTMC alongwith Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Secretary, BTMC and Mr. Kiran Lama received His Excellency and the First Lady by offering Flower Bouquets and Khaada. Bhikkhu Chalinda, Chief Monk of the Mahabodhi Temple alongwith Bhikkhu Dinanand and Bhikkhu Manoj also received His Excellency and the First Lady in the Main Sanctum and chanted Sutras Blessing His Excellency and the First Lady. Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi explained in detail the importance of the Mahabodhi Temple and the important sites within the Temple premises while circumambulating the Sacred Bodhi Tree. Mementos including the Buddha Statue and publications of the BTMC were gifted to His Excellency and the First Lady by the District Magistrate, Gaya, Secretary and Member of the BTMC.
